good news - Trey's new job

So a few weeks ago Trey was victim of a 39 people layoff. I never posted because . . . well . . . just didn't. After an interview 2 weeks ago, credit check and drug test, Trey received a call from a new company with a job offer! Today he received the offer in writing and accepted! So congrats, hubby! He goes back to outside-the-home work on 3/10. Until then there are several inside-the-home jobs that have been scheduled and started ;-) Hallelujah!

blooms

The rooster's feathers are coming in: So are the on-sale flowers that I do not know what they are:
I love tulips - they remind me of my paternal grandmother. Towards the end of her life we wrote many letters back and forth andGrandma always mentioned when she had planted her tulip bulbs. Since she was in Nebraska, it was always my signal that I had a week or two to go buy my bulbs and plant. Happy Spring :-)

weekend photos

Trey came home Friday to find empty, torn up packages of the snail food - it was pretty easy to figure out what now-full animal was guilty . . . Trey's friend, Luis, opened a restaurant in Cedar Park called Sushi Caliente. It is a fusion cuisine that combines Japanese and Mexican ingredients (spicy sushi). We went to the soft opening Sunday afternoon. If you are in Cedar Park go by and try it out - 202 Walton Way Ste 152 (zip - 78613).
Congrats, Luis.
Dave tries the Mariachi rolls - sushi with jalapeno pepper.
On the way home stopped by my good friend, Paige's, house to visit the family. Danielle and baby Kathryn just love each other and husband, Mike, is so funny.
It was a gorgeous, fun weekend. Daffodils and Irises are in bloom all over; my tulips are about to bloom and the Easter Lillies are beginning to grow. The bees are out. We've had beautiful weather and sunsets. Have a great week.

$460 dog

Came home Wed to find Daisy looking guilty and when I called her she limped over. Asked Trey if he knew what happened and he didn't. Upon inspection Daisy had 2 puncture wounds in her hind legs (one in each.) Trey took her to the vet today and $460 later, we have a very unhappy, cone-collar-wearing but stitched-up dog. The vet says it doesn't look like a bite but Trey really thinks it was from Sadie. Ugh.

skinny

We've been working with D on spelling her last name (it's a long one - quite a feat for a 5 year old) but only every once in a while. Once again, her fantastic kindergarten teacher has succeeded in about 3 days. Last night D proudly spelled her last name for us. Trey asked her how she learned it and I did know and explained that Mrs. H had recently changed their desk tags to list both first and last name. D piped up and said "Yes, and now we have to write both names on our papers. But Adriana and I have to write in really skinny letters to get all of our name on our paper." We both laughed. Trey told her that he had to learn to write skinny letters for his name in kindergarten too.

When we first got married I remember how I wrote out my new name all pretty. You could see all of the letters; now it is pretty much A-- UO----.

We're not progressing much on Baby O2's name. We still like Dixie and Samantha is in the running too. Now THAT would be a really long name . . . same # of letters but one more syllable. Plus Samantha was #10 in popularity in 2006. sigh . . .

Farewell and Houston Aquarium

And blogger uploading is finally agreeing...enjoy!

A good family friend of Trey's passed away earlier this week so we did a quick jaunt over to Houston to bid Ronald goodbye at his memorial. He was a great man and will be missed.

After the memorial (and soaking in the rainstorm when we left the church) we headed over to the Houston Aquarium for a family outing. I'm trying to publish some photos but blogger is having its problem with the uploads again.

Happy Valentine's Day AKA Jerome's Man Holiday!

So last Friday my coworker, Jerome, and I are discussing who knows what and get on the subject of holidays; Jerome begins complaining that women have all these holidays and men don't have any. Plus, men get in trouble if they forget any of the women holidays. So later, with a bunch of my female coworkers around, I just HAVE TO bring up that Jerome was complaining that we have too many holidays. So Julie tells Jerome to list all of the "women" holidays and he starts naming them--
Jerome: "your birthday"
Julie: "you have a birthday"
Jerome: "But I don't celebrate it."
All of us gals: "that's your own choice. Ok next."
Jerome: "Valentine's Day"
All gals: "That's for both of you."
Jerome: " your anniversary"
All gals: "That's for both of you."
Jerome: "Mother's Day"
All gals: "You have Father's Day"
Jerome: "Yeah, I'll give you that. Ernesto, help me out here."
Ernesto: "Man, you're on your own."
All: laugh.
So a few of us devious ones decided that Valentine's Day would be Jerome's Man Holiday and we covered his office door and window Wednesday night. Here's the results - heeheehee.

Jerome arrives . . .
Looks to Ernesto . . . the gals come out of their offices . . .
:-)

Jerome's a great guy. Turns out after talking with his wife, Julie found out that for poor Jerome every month truly does have a different special day that he has to remember so he never gets a break. And with two daughters in the house he is outnumbered...kinda like Trey will be in a few months ;-)
Happy Jerome's Man Holiday!

Hello! Hola! Guten Tag! Zdravstvuite! Bom dia!

Tonight at D's school was International Night. Each class has been studying a different country and tonight each class served food from their country to the parents. D's class studied Nigeria. Trey nicely made a huge batch of chin chin to share. In addition to Nigeria there was info and food from Japan, China, Mexico, Turkey, Czech Republic, Italy, Spain and Brasil. It was fun.

yummy, fancy dinner

Tonight Trey made a yummy, fancy dinner of bacon wrapped dove and duck, stuffed tomatoes and crescent rolls. D & I preferred the doves. The dogs all LOVED the leftover drippings. Plus, I didn't have to cook :-)

Yesterday . . .

the weather was just gorgeous so the whole family went on a walk in the evening. The dogs, however, have forgotten how to walk on separate leashes without pulling constantly. The neighborhood adjacent to ours is an off-leash neighborhood so we would let the dogs loose when there were no people around. Sadie and Daisy loved that and would just run, run, run. D rode her scooter most of the time. She found a pinecone and assorted things for her fairy house so it was fun for her too. The moon was a tiny sliver and very beautiful. It was a very nice, easy family outing.

little bit of my fav right now

Just a little bit of my fav song right now - by the fantastic Jimmy LaFave:

baby update and precious girl update

This morning we went to baby appt and all is sounding good. I've got a little too much sugar in my body (opps!) so I'll have to do the glucose test in three weeks. I'm addicted to Honey Nut Cheerios but Dr suggested cutting them out :-(

Afterwards we went to check out a public elementary school for transfer purposes. We were fretting when we found out Friday night that the transfer paperwork was beginning acceptance Sat morning! Many, many elementary schools are already frozen and we did not want to get stuck at our neighborhood school if we choose public. By chance, Trey happened to mention this to our neighbor , Deborah, who mentioned her school (she teaches 5th grade.) So we decided to stop by and look. When we got there it was closed (no kids/teacher work day) and we couldn't get in. As we were about to leave a man from our church pulled up - turns out he subs there and his wife is the secretary/bookkeeper! So he let us in so we could talk to the principal and in walks our neighbor! So Deborah showed us around until we could talk to the principal. We were really impressed with the school and decided to put in for transfer there. We won't find the results until April or May but we have a good feeling. I mean, with all of those "mountain top moments" how could you not?

Hannahs at the movies

In today's news: Two very cool Hannah Montanas were seen attending the premiere of the Hannah Montana/Miley Cyrus movie with these two crazy moms. Don't they look thrilled??!!
The whole thing was a lot of fun. The wigs came off about two minutes into the movie. We arrived at the movie about 40 minutes before and were still at the back of the line. We ended up sitting on the second row but it wasn't bad. We thought the pre-teens in front of us were going to hyperventilate when the Jonas Brothers came on the screen. If you want to check out the movie, the theater manager mentioned that the show has been extrended until the 14th. So run to get your ($15 each) tickets!
