great hubby

I've got a great hubby. He's been taking care of breakfast, lunch and dinner this weekend--including making fantastic crab cakes for tonight's dinner. He also entertained D for several hours this afternoon while I took a very long nap.

no plans??

Somebody asked what I was doing this weekend and I happily replied "oh, we don't have any plans." Then I got home, saw the pile of recently purchased toy gifts and realized "oh, yes we do have lots of plans." Somehow it just slipped my mind that tonight Trey and Danielle were going to the RR Express baseball game (+ bonus: fireworks on Fridays,) birthday party tomorrow and another one on Monday! Silly me!

PI

Well, I think this upcoming labor could be very interesting as I have a case of poison ivy creeping up my legs. It all started last weekend when we tried to go blackberry picking (missed 'em by about a week.) I got a little patch on each calf and it has slowly gotten worse. Trey, of course, has it much worse than I, which is not surprising at all. Danielle and Alison are completely fine. Do have a Dr appt tomorrow so maybe he can give me something.

anyone know a good negotiator?

Had a dr. appt today and Baby is firmly not coming out! I was really hoping for this week as I am HEAVY (& tired & cranky.) But Trey is hoping for one more week so he can finish up stuff at work. I guess I should also be worried about that but I am so HEAVY (& tired & cranky) that I am ready. Of course, the house is still insane but getting a little better bit by bit. Danielle really wants the baby to make her debut before school ends, which is next week, so we'll at least hope for then.

blue skies . . .

The fridge and freezer are back in working order - yea! The washing machine problem has been sort of fixed - the bottom agitator is working but not the top part so we can do half loads. The weather has been very nice so we took a little time out yesterday to check out the blackberry patch near by...looks like we missed the berries by about a week. Oh well. At least now in the freezer we have a frozen blackberry clobber!

Yesterday we also went to the store and had Danielle pick out the 1st photo and coming home outfit for baby sister. The 1st photo is a cute yellow and white lamb outfit and the coming home is mostly white with a little chick on the left chest area.

Danielle had her end-of-year testing and she is reading at the level of a 2nd grader in the 3 month of the 2nd grade :-). Very proud of her.

We have the curtains up in the nursery. Crib bumper and dust ruffle should be done this evening. D's bedside table lamp has been fixed.

We are feeling a little overwhelmed with the house in complete disarray with all the appliances out this week. Soooo, off to pick up.

when it rains . . .

it pours . . . rough couple of days for us with hormones, exhaustion and anxiety reigning supreme. The washing machine went out earlier this week (think it is the cupling the connects the agitator to the engine.) Over the weekend I had been smelling a slight burning smell but, being pregnant, thought it was me being overly sensitive to smells. Yesterday afternoon the fridge was making a little louder hum than usual. Yesterday evening the middle portion and seal were HOT to the touch. And . . . before we could get the repair man out, we got a freezer full of unfrozen food. So this morning D and I spent cleaning out the garage fridge and moving food. Luckily, my coworker's hubby was able to come over, cleaned the coils, checked the fan and compressor and right now the fridge appears to be cooling well. We're to watch it for 2 days to see if the fan needs to be replaced. He's coming back Sat to fix the freezer. So . . . some "storm" clouds are clearing.

Last night Austin had some major storms but we only got rain. When I finally got D to school we drove past lots of downed tree branches and uprooted trees. Another coworker had her son at work because his daycare was without power. So this cute-as-a-bug kid was very interested in the baby in my tummy. So interested in fact that when his mom told him I had a baby in there, he immediately got down on the ground and tried to pull up my dress saying "I want to see the baby." It was hysterical and he finally stopped trying to "see the baby" when I promised to send him a photo when she is born.

Off to watch a movie with Trey. Have a happy weekend . . .

R.I.P.

We worked hard nursing him through the night but by 7am it was obvious that the teeny, tiny kitten was dying. I rushed him to the vet office up the street and they graciously put him down so he didn't suffer any longer. Poor little kitten, R.I.P.

teeny, tiny kitten

tonight we stopped by neighbor's house and heard a pitiful, pitiful little kitten cry. we found a teeny, tiny abandoned black kitten that is definitely less than one week old and probably closer to one day old. there's no way the neighbor's could take care of another (they currently have about 14) and there's no way we could possibly not try to save it. so d and i ran up to the store and got some kitten milk and are trying to save it. we are going to try and find a foster cat to nurse him if he last through the night.

Dear friends

Last night I met with some of my dearest friends (Kathy, Mandi & Sarah - links to the right) for dinner and catch up. I guess because we've known each other for so long (though time has flown) and went through all those first child things at the same time, I am extremely comfortable with those three. We laughed a LOT, talked a lot and caught up on what everybody is doing. They also very nicely showered me (or baby) with gifts. I love all three of them :-)

the "Moon Mist" room is completely painted . . .

This past weekend my in-laws came up from Houston and helped prep then painted the baby's nursery. It is a light, light yellow. The actual name of the color is "Moon Mist." We also went back to the fabric store and purchased some coordinating light purple fabric for the cornice board and the crib dust ruffle. It's close!

been a while . . .

My SIL says we are the busiest people she knows - and we are busy - but it is funny to me. I remember how envious I used to be of them when we first got married. Even though we would go out and do a few things, it seemed D & G were always getting together with church friends or other kid family friends or work stuff. Be careful what you wish for . . .
So we have been busy lately and here's a run down of a few things we've been up to.
1) we have some clean up to do but we have finished with D's room. We've painted. My parents put up the fairy wallpaper border. We've moved the dresser and clothes into new room. Most of the toys and books have been sorted and put away. D loves the "new" (my old brass) bed and how high it is. She slides off every morning "wheee." In the process of setting up D's new room, the computer has been moved to the den. This has made it difficult to check as often so haven't been able to blog as much lately.
2) Central Tx got some major storms so we saw some very cool lightning. We also got pea sized hail but didn't hurt the cars - yea!
3) we redeemed a day of cleaning gift we received and got the kitchen and den more organized so there is a little more order in the house.
4) we finally got 4 more fish to accompany our one, lonely fish and snail in the fish tank. It was hilarious. At first the lone fish was kind of freaked out then he got very excited. This type of fish will "flash" its colors when it tries to flirt with the gals. He'll get 2 deep black vertical stripes and his tail will turn a bright yellow-orange color. He was like that for almost 2 days straight. Now he is back to that mostly in the mornings only.
5) Lots of laundry has been done
6) Dogs have gone to vet for yearly appts.
7) I've got a Girls Night Out planned for next Monday
8) My first roses bloomed. The Easter Lilies are about to bloom. The lime tree has dropped most of its blooms and little limes are growing. We have some pretty big green tomatoes in the garden.
9) Had D's Parent/Teacher conference and got a good report. She is doing well in everything except for recognizing 3D shapes. She is especially good at identifying and counting money - haha.
10) We've picked out and bought fabric for the baby's nursery. My mom is working on the crib bumper and window curtains. T's parents are coming up this weekend to help paint the nursery. We still don't have a name for this baby. She is kicking and moving around a lot more.
So that's 10 things we've been up to. I'm sure there are more but it's time for me to go back to bed.
So excited there are only 2 days left until the weekend . . . Have a good Thursday :-)
