dr appt update

T & I had a dr appt today to discuss our birth plan. Dr E wouldn't do another ultrasound (grr!) but did do some measuring. Thinks this baby will be a bigger baby as well. He thinks our family just has bigger babies! I've also been having some foot pain in my right foot. Dr E thinks that is from the pregnancy so are watching for now. Next appt in 2 weeks then once a week. I'm hoping and praying that baby doesn't come middle of May when Dr is out of town.

D had testing at school this week and fell asleep in the car on way home. She is still asleep!

Our church family

Our church family had a lovely baby shower for me & D last Sunday. My mom attended as well. We are completely overwhelmed by the generosity; a large part of our den is covered with gifts. Many of the attendees also got Danielle a little gift - including a charm bracelet with which she is now obsessed. More importantly, we know that this baby will be as loved and cared for as D has been since we joined.

The pink room is completely painted . . .

D's new pink room is completely painted (and T & A didn't file for divorce - haha!) I'm proud that we completed without any major arguments.) My mom, D & I went shopping and picked out coordinating bed ensemble and curtains. Tomorrow we hope to put up the wallpaper borders and move stuff in. Wish us luck.

Owl cam update

In case you enjoy the owl cam (link on right side) as much as I do - the female is caring for 7 eggs right now.

D room update/Baby O2 update

Tonight we painted most of the close-to-floor and close-to-ceiling areas of D's room pink. She helped!

Today at lunch bought Baby O2's baby book at Hallmark.

Also bought an office chair for $5 at a used furniture auction. T is happy.

whirlwind

It has been a whirlwind the past week or so. Some things we've been doing/up to:
--Friend Cindy is in town and went to a girls' night out last week
--caught a cold
--got over a cold - slowly and missing lots of work
--D & A went to small town east of Houston for friend's baby shower
--D & A stayed at in laws house and had some amazing spaghetti for dinner
--T stayed in town for big fraternity function (he's regional governor)
--spent a gazillion dollars on gasoline
--came home Sunday to T's "nesting" of emptying the study to make D's new room
--vacuumed enough dog hair to make another dog
--D caught my cold so stayed home Monday with her
--made lots of paper flowers (just because) while at home
--watched one UPS truck (slightly) rear end another UPS truck in front of our house
--accepted (from one of UPS guys) T's diploma only to find that his last name had been left off (we'll be getting a corrected one soon)
--got good news that there will be another cousin by this fall
--cut and gave away the first 2 rose blooms this year
--were the very fortunate recipients of work baby shower to help get ready for still un-named baby #2
--were able to share the balloons from shower with neighborhood kids, who tied on bikes and scooters (it was very cute)
--got to watch Ace of Cakes - one of our favorite shows
...and now am off to bed.

SHAME ON THE POSTAL SERVICE

and shame on me for not trusting my instinct. For Easter we always send little packages to our neices and nephews. Since Easter was so close to our BIL's b-day, we combined his present and got the family a Wii game. In the same box we sent Dan a rugby shirt, some candy, Addison's birthday present (baby doll accessories) and a little stuffed chick. We mailed this 4 lb 4.6 oz big box for $9.50 parcel post through the US Postal Service. I almost purchased the insurance but didn't. My SIL called today and asked "we got Addison's baby chick but I think maybe you sent something more? That was an awfully big box and I noticed you paid $9.50 to ship it..." I told Gretchen everything in there and she said "oh no. The only thing in there was the stuffed chick." The box arrived last Monday - no damage but obviously very taped up. We've had bad experience with the USPS before but it's been a while. Dan & Gretchen sent us a card once that had obviously been opened and only 1 gift card was there when they had sent 2. For a while, every card with a gift card enclosed disappeared somewhere between here and my brother's home. Our mail person is an idiot who will drop in ours and lots of neighbor's mail in our box and forget to pick up the outgoing mail - so much so that we NEVER mail out of our mail box. We've paid enough late payment charges due to that...So that's it for us. We held out for a long time but the USPS has lost most of our business - so long, farewell. UPS/FedEx/billpay you have new customers.

learn something new every day . . .

Yesterday evening was my UWM meeting. The general meeting during the day had a guest speaker who did a presentation on Islam. Our night hostess graciously took notes and shared with us that evening. It was very interesting. One of our members is visually impaired and I offered her a ride to and from the meeting. She has a beautiful seeing-eye dog and I've always been so tempted to pet her, though that is not allowed. Toward the end of the program the hostess' husband came in and requested that the collar come off the dog. I thought this a strange request until I pleasantly learned that if the collar is taken off the dog - the dog is off-work! You can pet, play, spoil them. So I got to pet, pet, pet that beautiful pup. Learn something new every day!
